Statement by the Director of the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies
at the Australian National University for the launch of Papuaweb

As Director of the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies and on behalf of
The Australian National University, I am pleased to join our institution in this
partnership with the State University of Papua and Cenderawasih State University in
supporting the Papuaweb.
|
|
It is important in our present global community that universities assist each other
in the dissemination of reliable information that emanates from and through the
academic community. We thus value this opportunity to cooperate in fostering a wider
knowledge and a deeper understanding of Papua.

|
It is my personal hope therefore that this web site will serve as a beacon for the
future development of Papua and its people.
