Statement by the Rector of the University of Papua for the Launch of Papuaweb

I am very glad to welcome the launching of Papuaweb. This is a historic moment not only
for the tripartite collaboration between The Australian National University (ANU),
Cenderawasih University (Uncen) and The State University of Papua (Unipa), but also,
and more importantly, with regards to the availability to a wider audience of research on
Papuan issues, including those written by staff and students at Unipa. I strongly believe
that Papuaweb will become a strategic tool for a better understanding and appreciation on
the part of the world community of the region and the people of the Indonesian province of
Papua.

I expect that Papuaweb will become a crucial resource for the civitas academica of
Unipa in meeting its goal of a high quality of teaching, research and community service.
Unipa commits itself to joining hands with all related parties in supporting the further
development of Papuaweb in the years to come.

On behalf of Unipa, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who have put so
much effort into this project, allowing us to launch Papuaweb today.
